Another word for Shrove Tuesday is Pankake day. The people in Great Britain are this day eating pankakes. They have also a race in baking pankakes. The origins of eating pancakes came from Christians, who were eating all fat food before Lent, becouse when the Lent was they started preparing for Easter. In past Shrove Tuesday used to be a half-day holiday. There was a church bell, called the ‘Shriving Bell’, it has been ringing and signalling the start of the holiday and to call people to church to confess their sins. Wednesday after the Shorve Tuesday is called Ash Wednesday. Lent means in Slovenian language post.

Well done, Vesna. That's all true.

Does anybody know anything about the "pancake races" on Shrove Tuesday? Who can compete in the races and what are the rules?

In races can compete local housewives and they must wear an apron and a hat or scarf.
